Bio – Tim Christol

Tim Christol – President

Chief (Retired) Christol is President of Edgeway Strategies, providing training and consulting services to law enforcement and private business. He served six and one-half years as Chief of Police with the City of Red Bank, TN, and served previously for two years as Police Chief in Fletcher, NC, after his retirement as an Assistant Chief Deputy with the Knox County Sheriff’s Office in Knoxville, Tennessee. His law enforcement career spans over 39 years where he has served as a Patrol Officer, Narcotics and Criminal Investigations Detective, Professional Standard’s Division Supervisor, Director of Training, Administrative Division Commander and Chief of Police.

He has served as the Director of the Sheriff’s Underwater Recovery Team, Commander of the Critical Incident Negotiation Team, and Director of the Regional Training Academy as well as serving as Regional Coordinator for the Tennessee Public Safety Networks Critical Incident Stress Debriefing Team and Co-Chaired the State C.I.S.D Advisory Board. He taught for over ten years as an Associate Professor of Sociology at Tusculum College, Adjunct Facility in Criminal Justice Administration at Walters State Community College and continues to teach at various Law Enforcement Training Academy’s. He is a regular contributor to various law enforcement professional journals and his training concepts are taught both nationally and internationally. He served on the Executive Board of the Tennessee Association of Chiefs of Police as Treasurer, President Elect of the Red Bank Chapter of the Chattanooga Chamber of Commerce, Aegis Law Enforcement Foundation of Chattanooga Board of Directors, Partnership Advisory Board of the Chattanooga Family Justice Center, as well as other Boards and committees throughout the community.

Chief Christol graduated from the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy in 1979, earned his advanced Law Enforcement Certification through the North Carolina, Justice Training and Standards Commission and the Executive Level Leadership Certificate from the Tennessee Association of Chiefs of Police. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Tusculum College and a Master of Science in Criminal Justice from the University of Tennessee. He is a graduate of the 221st Session of the F.B.I. National Academy. He participated in the National Institute of Justice 2009 and 2010, Small and Rural Law Enforcement Agency Summits as well as the first National Institute of Justice (U.S.) / Home Office, Scientific Technology Branch (U.K.), International Law Enforcement Technology Institute in London, England in 2010.
